Is there anyone here who is planning to watch Broadchurch who hasn't seen it through Episode 2 of the new series?

If not, I have some observations I'd like to make...

I'll wait a few days for folks to respond before I do...

Oh, and let me save Meade an image search and some keystrokes:

Yes. I am planning to watch Broadchurch and have not yet seen Episode 1 of the second series. Now for pity's sake, stop!

Yes and I, well, same as Meade actually.

Is it on PBS.com again? Or do you mean the US series?

No, it's season 2 of the original British series; and it's on BBC America. (Episode 3 just aired last night; if remember correctly I believe you have Comcast On Demand; you should be able to see all three of the episodes from there)

I was somewhat suspicious of Meade's post given his obsessive comments about what he calls "soap operas"; hence the Pinocchio picture... (I thought he might have said that just so there wouldn't be any more posts about it... :P )

But since you haven't had a chance to watch the opening episodes, (we're going to watch episode 3 tonight) I will avoid posting any spoilers and hold off making the observations I wanted to make.

Honestly LJ, I won't get to it for a while, so go ahead and have your discussion. I was really teasing -- I'll just make sure to avoid this thread!

Is anybody watching Gracepoint, the US version of Broadchurch with Tennant reprising his role? If so, any reviews/comparisons?

I'm waiting for it all to be on Netflix. Don't watch regular TV other than sports.

I haven't watched it yet, but probably will at some point...

It came on just a few months after Broadchurch, and I really didn't feel like watching a 10 part mystery series of a story I had just seen and already knew the ending to...

It must have been difficult for Tennant; 10 episodes of Broadchurch and 10 episodes of Gracepoint in a single year...

20 episodes (or more; 22-24 is pretty standard) in a season is quite common for a successful hour long crime drama series in the US... but as an actor who's used to the leisurely pace of British TV production schedules, he must have been quite knackered... 8-)

He won't have worry about over exerting himself this time; apparently Gracepoint was a ratings flop, and they won't be doing a season two:
Gracepoint' won't get a second season

No surprise, but here it is: Fox’s Gracepoint isn’t getting a second season.

We’re hearing the limited series thriller won’t continue, effectively ending Broadchurch remake. Gracepoint starred David Tennant and Anna Gunn as detectives investigating a small-town murder. The drama has had very low ratings on Thursday night, with last week’s finale delivering 4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. Fox had no comment.

On the other hand, a third Broadchurch is already in the works:
‘Broadchurch’ Renewed For Third Season; David Tennant, Olivia Colman Returning

The second season of ITV’s acclaimed drama, Broadchurch, concluded Monday night in the UK after averaging 9M consolidated viewers during the run. ITV has now renewed the series for a third season which will again feature David Tennant’s Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Olivia Colman’s Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller.

Meade, season one of Broadchurch is on Netflix already.

I have to say, I watched the first episode and a bit more of Gracepoint, and I found myself getting distracted from the show very easily. I almost always multi-task while watching TV, but I can generally keep track of the show if it's interested me sufficiently - with just the occasional rewind. Anyway, Gracepoint seemed very well acted, but a bit of a snooze.

I haven't tried out Broadchurch yet - I will soon, as obviously it's worth watching.

Thanks Big RR
I believe you meant BSG....

(Ordinarily I wouldn't point out a minor mistake like that where I'm sure everyone understood the intent, but since you're so keen to do that to others, I thought I'd make an exception in your case... :nana )

I started watching last night, and had to shut off episode 3 only because I was so exhausted I had to sleep. Looking forward to getting back into it this evening.

Much better than the remake in nearly every aspect. :ok

Jim, et al, check out "Happy Valley"if you get the chance. It's a bit "right on" but nicely gritty, with a great main character.

Now "Happy Valley" that was a good one (natter, natter, gossip). Episode after episode I got so mad at that woman cop for not spotting the bleedin' obvious. Gob's right - it's well worth the effort - even better than Broadmarsh, stairs, bum - whatever it was - and we liked that one too.

I started watching Broadchurch on Netflix a couple weeks ago and by episode 3 I got bored and quit.

Last night I started watching The Americans on Amazon Prime. It was a little confusing at first but got better after a couple episodes.
