This seems to be the course for many of the young singers who started out in kiddie TV shows (usually Disney, although I don't I know if Hannah Montana was on a Disney network or not or not); Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, and many others--they all want to shed that "kiddie" image and be "grown up". I've never seen the VMAs, but I really doubt this was all that much different from the other performances they showed.

There is a school of thought - not new with this generation - that the more outrageous you can be, the better it will look to your young audience. So being ridiculous is the objective.
Fortunately, their audience is too stupid and gullible to recognize what is actually going on.
She is only one of the latest marginally talented people who are able to make great careers out of being "outrageous." I am amazed at how few people recognize how profoundly homely this girl is.
Is this [vulgar euphemism for vagina] related to Madonna?

Liz's reaction: "Madonna called. Someone going by 'Hannah' stole her choreographer's laptop & the notes for her hairstylist!"
Yeah, no, it's all about show biz and keeping your name in pop culture currency. Did this woman excoriate the Rolling Stones for their equally "racist " performance at Glastonbury? Because, you know, they've been ripping off black culture for more than half a century now.

At risk of swimming against the tide (not the slut-shaming - that's A-OK), I think the charge of racism is that this deluded "entertainer" chose only black male and female dancers with whom sexual acts were to be simulated. This objectification of blacks as usable sexual animals is the objection. I don't know if they were all black but the writer seems to indicate this was the case.
The comment about fat behinds is somewhat puzzling as for the past several years women have been pretending that a huge arse (other than Simon Cowell) is in fact attractive and desirable.

You mean I've been keeping my butt slim and trim for nothing?

I know this is old news, but I just encountered this and I can't resist posting it here....
Racism, I doubt the thought ever occurred to Miley. Some black people are fixated on racism and whites have to walk on egg shells, don’t seem like freedom to me. I have a couple black friends but they don’t seem to be the type to be looking for racism.
As for this white man stealing the Black man’s stuff. Hey we are from the Eurasian culture we have we have been borrowing from each other , East and West, for thousands of years; it is just what we do and it has worked out pretty well for us.

Logical conclusion reached? Or will she at some point do a "music" video, with three naked black guys, a girl on girl scene and finish it with a pop shot?
