What's your current bog book?

I'm currently working my way through "Eating for England" by Nigel Slater. It's perfectly formed, consisting of short chapters of which one, or two, fill the required time span. It's also slightly amusing and witty, essential for on the can reading. It's not so "in depth" as to cause loss of use of legs.

The Wheel of Time (16 volumes but I only have 7 so I'm rereading them) by Robert Thingie. Alternating with Flashman in the Great Game for which I use my other reading glasses. That is, I alternate on a daily basis - not in the middle of proceedings.

If I'm not feeling tired of living non-fiction, I pick up Why the West Rules - For Now (Ian Morris), having just finished Zulu Rising (a history of the 1879 Zulu wars by Ian Knight). But those are hardbacks and sometimes drag me forward to fall on my face.

None, I've banned books from the Bathroom since I gave it a makeover in December.

It's taking me an awfully long time to train the husband about the new rules for the bathroom.

1 check in the new under sink vanity unit for toilet roll, shower gel and deodorant before whinging that you can't find anything.

2 the shower curtain goes at the shower end of the bath.

3 the toilet duck is NOT A target for your urine.

4 the new blind is set in the optimum position for both light and privacy, do NOT move it.

5 you use it, you clean it... Sink, bath and toilet.

Seriously there have been murders for less.

Its Ohhkayyy in a lemme just finish it kinda way but as I got it free then its worth persevering had I paid for it I wouldn't have been best pleased. It came in a large collection of ebooks that I just happened to have *cough* and reading the Amazon reviews it was compared to Matthew Reilley who I do enjoy reading however I have to say this is nowhere near Matthew Rilleys standard or style so whoever thinks that clearly hasn't read much Reilley.

I got that one as a legitimate free download from Amazon - although I see now its gone back to being £3.74 - its worth every penny of that - I read a LOT of Prepper, Apocalypse and post Apocalypse fiction, some of it bloody awful - this was a pearl amongst a load of free downloaded tripe, this one is a common themed story but a different approach to it, at times it made me laugh out loud, and other times I had a big lump in my throat followed by genuine tears. I want desperately to read the sequel but being the tight bugger I am I am waiting to see if the sequel comes down in price - if not once I finish Black Mountain I shall happily pay full price for it. The author appears to write a lot of this kind of story and I'm surprised I hadn't come across her before now - I may well take a punt on another of her books hoping that she doesn't just recycle the same sort of thing as in The Flu as I'd love to be able to find a new source of my favourite genre.

It's funny RB, Matthew Reilly sells buckets of books but you're the only other person I know that reads them! His books are great for those times you want a good read without having to think too much.

The Tournament is standing by on my kindle as airplane reading next month.

You'll have to let me know what you think of that one Sean have to admit much as I love Reilly and have up to now read all of his books - the premise of this one has left me a bit cold. I'm a huge Scarecrow fan followed by Jack West - a new Scarecrow book would be on my Kindle the instant it was available lol Its just pure "fiction" lots of action, great larger than life characters, utterly impossible and implausible plots and scenarios, brilliant over the top weaponry etc. makes me grin the whole time I'm reading them.

Yes, it does seem to be a bit of a departure from his usual fare RB... A thriller based around a 16th Century chess tournament featuring a young Elizabeth I does beg the question of what he was smoking at the time but I'll be interested to see if he can pull it off.

I usually read some of the newspaper. It does double duty if the toilet paper runs out.
