And now the triumvirate of death is complete

Post by Big RR »

Ralph Waite was reported dead this morning. I know he was the father on The Waltons (one show I never watched a full episode of), but I'm sure he did a lot of other things.

Aw geez that's a shame...

More recently he also played Mark Harmon's father on NCIS...(He was kind of endearing in that role)

And also David Boreanaz's grandfather on Bones...

For the past few years he's been playing a very convincing priest as Father Matt in Days of Our Lives.

The first non-Waltons role I remember seeing him in was as a dastardly officer on a slave ship in Roots. Played successfully against type.

I remember that...

A very chilling departure from the "kindly and wise" type characters he has played so conviningly over the years...

From everything I've read about the man, those reflected genuine qualities that he possessed. Apparently he was a very big hearted and caring sort of person; never a hollywood prima donna type.
