Waiting for Sherlock

Post by Long Run »

Sherlock is back on the case in 2015! The hit series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will return for a special and three new episodes, BBC One announced. Production on the special is set to begin in January 2015 with the three new episodes going into production later this year.

"A special, plus a new series of three episodes—it's a record-breaking run! Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you'd expect..." co-creator Steven Moffat said in a statement.Season three of Sherlock ended with one very big reveal. Spoiler warning, obviously. Moriarty's (Andrew Scott) face took over every TV, apparently announcing his return from the dead. "Miss me?"

"Series Four! At last ! It's always special to return to Sherlock but this time it's even more special as we're doing... a special! Not only THAT, we'll then be shooting three more episodes which will take Sherlock and John Watson into deeper and darker water than ever before," co-creator Mark Gatiss said in a statement. "The whole Sherlock team are terrifically excited to return for four new adventures. The Game is on—again!"

No word on when these new episodes will make their way to the US shores on PBS, but it's safe to say viewers will anxiously await their arrival.

"It's taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work, so we're thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again," executive producer Sue Vertue said in a statement.

The UK government organised a screening of BBC TV drama Sherlock in North Korea in the hope of "encouraging change" in the country, it has been revealed.

The programme was shown in 2012 at a film festival in the capital Pyongyang.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was "one of the things we have done to encourage North Korea to be more open to the outside world".

The screening was revealed in a document detailing the FCO's activities in the normally insular country.

The document, which was published in response to a Freedom of Information request, showed that the FCO paid £287.33 for "rights to BBC Sherlock Holmes Series".

The reason given was: "Encouraging change."
