What is your 70s anthem?

Post by Scooter »

Absolutely dead on:
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Many words have been used to describe Freddie Mercury and Queen's timeless classic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY: Strange, quirky, blasphemous, invigorating, and of course - epic - All of which are words that could be used to describe the innards of both your mind and soul. A poppy and energetic individual whose imagination knows no bounds, this song's winding thematics and brazenly over-the-top elements were made to accompany you! This is the song you need to be blaring in the car whenever you need a piece of music to make your soul soar.

Rhythmically unique, reflective, and widely considered to be one of the best songs of all time, The Eagle's HOTEL CALIFORNIA shares a lot in common with you. The song's slow and intrinsically hypnotizing composition gives off vibes of mystery, curiosity, and longing - all wrapped in a classy pseudo-southwestern package. The journey it describes is a lot like your own - a life of opened and closed doors... A mixed bag of emotions that leaves you with the phrase "it gets better" as you try to decipher whether certain elements of your life are of heaven or hell. We're willing to be this song already speaks to you, and if it didn't before we hope it does now.
Well done! They'd be hard pressed to find a song I despise more....

Awful stuff, bland corporate country-rock, so middle of the road it should have a white stripe down the centre. Goddamn utter cack. Elevator musac.

That's how :D

This is so amazingly scientific!

Wow! Your choices in this quiz call out Dress Rehearsal Rag from the album Songs of Love and Hate by Leonard Cohen. In 2012 Rolling Stone Magazine ranked the album at #295 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of all Time, the only Leonard Cohen album to make the list. It was ranked #74 on Pitchfork Media's list of the 100 best albums of the 1970s You are the most amazingly discerning person ever to take this quiz! You have by far compensated us for the moronic and insipid choices made by John Travolta wannabes who've shown themselves to be totally lacking in any musical taste whatever. We bow to your wisdom, artistic immersion in real music and your general all-round brilliance. Well done!

I got Hotel California as well; it's one of the few Eagles songs I do like (read not too country), but hardly something I'd place as my 70s anthem. Bohemian Rhaspody and Leonard Cohen would rank higher on my list (not sure what else they had).

I haven't taken it yet, but if I get anything other than Bruce Springstein's Thunder Road, the quiz is totally bogus. (After reading the way he gushed about that fraud Cohen, I already strongly suspect this to be the case; obviously not a lot of judgement involved on the part of the person who put this together.)

My favorite Eagles song is probably Tequila Sunrise...

December '63 - The Four Seasons

This classic hit by The Four Seasons is a lot like you - an upbeat, funky package hiding a romantic and nostalgic soul underneath. The song itself isn't about longing for the old days, its about romance and memories and capturing that feeling of bliss and appreciation. The more you can look back on your past with satisfaction, the more gratifying the future will be, which makes this the perfect 70's anthem for you!
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Apparently I too can check out any time I like, but I can never leave...

Not a bad choice, I guess; I generally do like the Eagles, though that's not my favorite of theirs. Bohemian Rhapsody would've been good too...better, actually, now that I think about it.

It'd be interesting to see the entire list of possible quiz results, and to make my own choice from that list.

ETA: maybe I should've done it "scientifically" the way Meade did.... ;)

Chalk up another anti-Eagles vote.

I got the fabulous Gloria Gaynor and "I Will Survive!" Yes, please!
First off, LAWD'A'MERCY this song is good! The ultimate break up song, I WILL SURVIVE has become so much more than that over the years. Not only is this song your own personal 70s anthem, but an anthem for empowerment and survival and independence the world over. This classic's rip-roaring beat and passionately accurate vocals make it a timeless classic, and we say it perfectly embodies a class act such as yourself!

I don't need no stinkin' quiz, 'cause there's no question that needs answering:

I can't take the quiz (blocked) but in June 1976 (and probably every May/June) Alice Coppers "Schools Out" was a must play.
