Rush Limbaugh has admitted to being 'racist' following comments he made about actor Idris Elba.



The eternally outspoken host decided to address news out of the Sony hack that Elba was being eyed to play James Bond once Daniel Craig exited the franchise, declaring it unacceptable for a black actor to even be considered for the iconic role of 007.

He then took it a step further by saying the idea of casting Elba as Bond, a fictional storybook spy created by author Ian Fleming, was as ridiculous as a white actor playing a black historical figure.

'James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was,' said Limbaugh as he began his diatribe.
'But now [they are] suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland.'

Why stop at Black?

Maybe a Muslim, female, transsexual, lesbian, disabled, single parent, dwarf, black Bond, instead of going about shooting up the baddies and having car chases, she could invite Dr No and Goldfinger (et al) to encounter groups, where they could explore their inner child's need for world domination!

Or maybe they could offer them some Reiki or homeopathic remedies?

That's silly - he's Luther isn't he?

James bond was inspired by a real life British spy: Sidney Riley who’s real name was Rosenblum or some such name.

Doesn't bother me in the least. Make Sherlock Holmes black too, and Watson could even be a female!

If they're looking for a new James Bond, my choice would Chris Vance...

The Transporter...



The character of Frank Martin , (much like Simon Templer in earlier years) is consciously built with Bond in mind...

In an episode we watched recently, Frank confronted a Bad Guy, and this exchange ensued:

"That suit, that tie, that haircut, that accent, you think you're James Bond..."

"No, Bond get's smarter villains..."

And then he takes ten of them out, without breaking a sweat....

In the most recent episode, Frank is charged with Transporting a Beyonce type character to a series of concerts...(who he winds up going to bed with, in classic James Bond style...)

At the end she says, "I could be Miss Moneypenny to your James Bond..."

To which Frank replies:

"Yes, you could...but you shouldn't..."

How James Bond is that?

I really hope they ditch the brooding Daniel Craig and give Chris Vance a shot...

I tend to agree with not having any problem on the race or gender of casting unless it either makes no sense (like black nazis or white zulu warriors) or if the casting changes the essence of the storyline. A black Bond would do neither, unless a lack bond was turned into a "superfly" character, e.g.

Having a black man play James Bond would change things a bit.

To begin with, they would have to call him 0012.

Having finished The Wire, and starting Luther, Elba would be a fabulous Bond. He is sizzling hot with the right amount of brains. I adored his portrayal of Stringer Bell, gangsta turned businessman.
