Oh Dear Abby....

Post by Lord Jim »

One of the most likable people in show business gets assaulted:
'NCIS' actress Pauley Perrette assaulted by homeless man who threatened to kill her

"NCIS" actress Pauley Perrette tweeted Friday morning that she was assaulted overnight by a "psychotic homeless man" who said he was going to kill her.

Perrette plays forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the hit CBS show. She posted a tweet including an image of a long document that described the incident.

"I am shaken and traumatized," she wrote. "My life changed tonight."

Perrette wrote that as she was walking from her Hollywood home to a guest house, a man grabbed her and punched her in the face and told her repeatedly he was going to kill her.

"He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me," she tweeted. "Then he showed me how he was going to kill me."

The 46-year-old said her attacker said his name was William and after she told him he has a beautiful name and her nephew shares his name, he began to hit her again.

"He started to punch me again and then said, 'Get the f--k out of here,' and I did." The actress wrote that she then collapsed on the sidewalk and a dog being walked by its owner licked her face.

"Some guy walked right past with a dog that licked my face. He was on his phone, annoyed. Did nothing," she wrote.

She then texted her friend next door and her "church friend cop." She drew a sketch of her attacker for police and her friend, James, snapped a picture of the sketch on his phone.

"[He] was headed towards Hollywood Blvd with murder in his eyes...[James] found the guy, surveilled him, the cops came and followed James to him. They got him. Felony assault."

LAPD officer Richardo Hernandez confirmed to FOX411 that a white male, David Merck, was arrested on battery charges and is currently being held on $100,000.

Perrette reflected on her experience at the end of her note leaving the following message: "We need full mental health care. We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone. I need to heal."

She ended the note saying, "I almost died tonight."

I actually find the behavior of the guy with the dog more infuriating than the attacker...

The attacker presumably has some sort of excuse; most likely that wonderful combination of mental illness and substance abuse...

What is the asshole walking the dog's excuse? This took place in a wealthy neighborhood in Hollywood; I can't believe that a woman lying on the sidewalk is an everyday occurrence...to not even stop and see if she needed help...What a callous POS...

I guess there are no charges that could be brought against this self-absorbed pig, but it would be really nice if his identity could be learned and splashed all over social media....

Maybe somebody would slash the tires on his Bentley.... :ok

I guess he could have thought it was a trap and then called police when he was out of sight, but it doesn't appear he did that. I have walked by (apparently homeless) people lying on the sidewalk in NYC and then called the cops when I got around the corner because the person was laying in a dark area, or near an alley, or whatever. But if I saw someone in obvious distress, I can't believe I'd just walk away.

Speaking of it being tough getting old, I don't understand this. If someone assaulted me, smashed my face and threatened to kill me, the first thing I would do would not be to post all of the details on twitter.

Nowadays it is standard procedure for the egocentric over-privileged people of our culture to keep us updated on their pathetic lives. It's gotten so bad that selfie sticks (which I invented in my mind before it hit the market) are flying off shelves. People can't get enough of themselves and they think everyone else needs to be aware of how they feel and look every day.

It's all about ME you asshole!!!

What's really sad is that children are being raised by these self-centered narcissistic cell-phoneys with selfie sticks up their ass - so the kids think it's normal and proper etiquette! Which brings to mind that I'm really looking forward to when I can read tweets from these people when they get older and bring a selfie stick to their first colonoscopy.

"Here is a picture of Dr Proctor sticking a camera up my ass. Hey everybody! My ass-selfie! I'm so CUTE!!! Look! My first hemorrhoid!"

I don't give a flying freakin' fuck about you! I hope you walk into the path of a locomotive some day while you're texting the world about your current feelings. I don't want you to die. I just want you to get really messed up and I hope someone records it and puts in on YouTube.

I hate people!!!

Good of you to keep us updated there, Joe!

So let's see if I've got this right, Joe...

With these choices:

1. A mental case who terrorizes, chokes and pummels an innocent person...

2.A self absorbed dick head who walks right past a person prone on the sidewalk in an upper class residential neighborhood...

You choose the terrorized, choked person with the smashed face lying on the sidewalk to be the asshole in the story?

Go shoo the kids off your lawn... :P

To be fair Joe, it does say she posted the account the next morning, after she got help, worked with the police on a sketch, etc. It does not appear to be the first thing she did; indeed, it's akin to calling people or telling people at work what happened. I would bet some here might post about the same thing happening to them the next morning as well.

Now I'll be the first to say I honestly don't understand all the fuss about twitter; I neither tweet nor follow anyone, and probably never will. But to each his or her own. Until it becomes required reading, I just won't care about it one way or the other.

Oh, I see. My feelings don't count. You're taking the sympathetic - Hey look at me I feel your pain - approach toward the beaten and terrorized person in order to score points for yourself here at Plan B.

Well, I'm not buying it. You're just another one of them. Are you hoping to get a selfie holster for Christmas (or should it be a selfie quiver?) [Just wait & see, somebody is going to steal another of my ideas again]

And I don't "shoo" kids off my lawn. I plink them with my pellet gun... 8-)

but it's the first thing she did when she was done sharing her experience with the authorities.

I see. Just pretend that everything in the world is fine, nobody is selfish and if you avoid it, it will go away.

You've become part of the problem... :D

People who post on Twitter are somehow selfish? I don't see it. I see it more like dying one's hair an odd color like blue--if it doesn't hurt me or anyone less, I couldn't care less about it--even if it doesn't "go away".

But then, what do you expect from someone who always is part of the problem. :nana

Well, Jim maybe he didn’t like her. There is a lot (opinion ) of that around. Everybody hates everybody else. Blacks, whites, liberals, conservatives, Yankees and rebels hate the others. “I hate you, you hate me. We are all about hate in the land of free. Can’t you see”. Gob sometimes asks the question why do the people in the U.S. feel such a need for self defense. Well we are only industrialized country with such levels of hatred.

We don’t have political opponents we have political enemies. There are blacks who fanaticize about raping, torturing and terrorizing white families to get revenge for atrocities that happened long before they were born. There American Indians who want revenge. There are Mexicans that still hold resentments over the loss of the Southwest to the US in the Mexican American War. If it is announced that Bush has cancer, there be smiles on the faces of some in the liberal community. When Jane Fonda dies there will be those that celebrate, I won’t be one of them, but there will be plenty others.

I am not saying that the guy did have animosity towards her, but I would not be surprised if that was the case.

Are we a nation or a group of opposing factions? We are certainly not a national family, but if we are we are a dysfunctional one.

I tried to make myself understood, but for those who do not want to understand no amount of effort would suffice.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Not all people on Twitter are selfish. Just most of them. Twitter & Facebook are playgrounds for selfish people.

Of course, there are mature people who post there, like AndyH, Gob (well.. agewise anyway), Meade and Crackpot, but they're the microminority and even they are talking about themselves all of the time!!

Grumpy grumpersaurus.

I was on a plane flight recently where a volunteer doctor was called to help an elderly man who had low blood pressure issues. This was just after take-off. The question at issue was whether the elderly man was well enough to continue the flight or if we needed to turn around and go back (meaning everyone misses their connecting flights). A woman who wanted to get back from the lavatory -- she had broken rules by going before the seatbelt light was off -- is mad that the aisle is blocked by the doctor clearly using a stethoscope and the flight attendant, and the a-hole woman physically brushes-pushes them away as she huffily says, "Excuse me!" But then it got worse. The doctor asks the two passengers across the aisle from the elderly guy if she (and her traveling companion) can change aisle/middle seats with them so the doctor can monitor the sick guy. They say no, they've already paid $5 for their in-flight video, and it will be too big a hassle -- seriously, the doctor saved the frickin' flight and they don't want to be bothered to move a few rows. Fortunately, the passenger behind the sick guy volunteered to change seats. You like to think people suck in this type of situation because they just haven't bothered to apply enough consideration to the matter, but some people just suck.

Wow, Long Run, that makes me really sad for the state of human kind. What the fuck happened to caring about people?
