Strong movie recommendation

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

My wife brought 10 movies home from the library. I sorted 5 to watch and 5 to watch after 5 to watch.

So tonight she and granddaughter wanted to watch a movie - all of us. I picked one of the 5 to watch, reasoning that a chick looking flick might work

OK "Enough Said" - Julia Louise Dreyfus, James Gandolfino, Catherine Keener, Toni Collette.

Brilliant. I've not seen such an honest (and manipulative in its way) movie since..... well, a long time. I do recommend it for its true-to-life presentation of relationships (second), the way in which little things become major problems, and... I don't know

Just go watch it. Or rather, go to the library/DVD shop and borrow it for a while

It's worth watching twice and I don't often think that's true

Oh and the new Star Wars movie is really good fun - but that was Monday Night Free Popcorn at the cinema

Oh man, does that ever have "chick flick" written all over it...

Did you watch it in your jammies while eating a pint of Häagen-Dazs? :P

Well, LJ .... I realize it probably isn't up to your usual standard of foul language, disgusting humans doing disgusting things and the idolizing of law-breaking trash, but it just might be a funny and insightful movie that you'd enj.... oh, wait. Now I see why you'd not like it at all. :nana

I'll bet there isn't a single shoot out, car chase, or explosion in the whole damn movie...

But if Julia Louise Dreyfus gets nekkid it might be worth watching... :P

I saw the film Meade, and while it isn't exactly the sort of movie I like (my wife selected it), I will have to agree it is better than the majority of romantic comedies Hollywood has released. Added to that, I believe it was Gandolfini's last movie (or next to last) which got it a lot of play when it was released. There are far worse ways to spend a couple of hours.

Jim--as I recall it is PG-13, no nudity.

Strongest movie recommendation

Post by RayThom »

My favorite film for 2015 is, hands down, "Spotlight." It exposes the slimy underbelly of the catholic church. Everything I was told about child sexual abuse by the clergy when I was growing up was crystallized in this movie. The smug sanctimony of Cardinal Law passing on a catechism to Marty Baron is priceless -- and says it all.

Michael Keaton should finally get the Oscar he was cheated out of last year.

So you're tellin' me there are no car chases, no gunfire, no explosions...

And Julia Louise doesn't even flash her tits a single time?

And you call that a "movie"?

I call that a waste of celluloid....

Gandolfini was brilliant in that film, as he was in most everything. Meet the Rileys with Melissa Leo is another great indie he did a few years before he passed.
