I heard a piece this morning on NPR re the worst Christmas songs of all time and thought, we can do much better than the list they made. I'll start with a few, feel free to contribute:

Dominic the Donkey--I honestly cannot think of a worse song; it's one that doesn't even sound good when you're drunk.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYlvfX3nwlc

The Christmas Shoes--saccharine and cloying with an annoying kid singing part of it; who wouldn't hate it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpkI7GW2V34

Jingle Bells (Barking Dogs)--'nuff said

See Jim's Post

Frosty/Rudolph--tied; annoying songs made by commercial jungle writers it seems.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6zW225k_O0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM6mDRhKAcA

Feliz Navidad/Mamacita, Donde esta Santa Claus--tied; the worst spanish language music can muster.

ETA: the links to the songs ince Jim did the same.

Oh come on...

The worst Christmas song of all time...

It's not even a close competition...

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer:

First runner up, The Dogs Barking Jingle Bells...

But at least that's cute:

My best of the worst. This is played so infrequently during the Xmas season I anticipate hearing it. The DropKick Murphys:

Wow, you're right about that BB...

That sounds like it was sung by a young Lawrence Welk.... 8-)

When that record was pressed, there was a President running for election with the slogan, "Keep Cool With Coolidge".... :D

Frosty the Snowman & Rudolph were both written for Gene Autry. (1950 & 1949 respectively)

Here's the story on Rudolf: http://www.npr.org/2015/12/25/461005670 ... d-reindeer It was re-run on my local NPR station the other day.

And the OTHER story:

A Russian couple was walking down the street in St. Petersburg the other night, when the man felt a drop hit his nose. "I think it's raining," he said to his wife.

"No, that felt more like snow to me," she replied. "No, I'm sure it was just rain, he said." Well, as these things go, they were about to have a major argument about whether it was raining or snowing. Just then they saw a minor communist party official walking toward them. "Let's not fight about it," the man said, "let's ask Comrade Rudolph whether it's officially raining or snowing."

As the official approached, the man said, "Tell us, Comrade Rudolph, is it officially raining or snowing?"

"It's raining, of course," he answered and walked on. But the woman insisted: "I know that felt like snow!" To which the man quietly replied: "Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!"

Some of these songs listed as "horrible" are classics that no Christmas would not be complete without. Some of you have no taste. :nana

@W--that's the problem with lists like these, what's an ear worm to one person is a holiday classic to others; e.g. I personally like the Feed the World/Do they Know it's Christmas time, Live Aid song. And one of my absolute favorites might well grace many a worst list, a offering by the Pogues and Kristy McColl--A Christmas Fantasy of New York:

turns out that my daughter is a fan of the group.

who knew? (holly did)

anyway, here, without further doo-doo, is a really good rendition...
