If You Are A Fan Of Orange Is The New Black

Aw, that's such a sweet, toe-tapping, little ditty. You can't beat a good folk uke.

"Orange is the new black"? Fashion show?

Crap
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I know this is a favorite of the lefties and PC types, but frankly a show centered on life in a woman's prison really doesn't do much for me...

If I want to watch Kate Mulgrew, I prefer Star Trek Voyager re-runs...

There was an Australian series in the 70s/80s called Prisoner (Prisoner: Cell Block H in the US, UK and Canada*) that I thought was quite good. It has been re-booted as Wentworth and is now in its fourth season and I am finding the remake quite well done as well.

*In Canada it was called Caged Women in later years, which suggested something entirely different :o

And this from the guy who used to praise the merits of "Hogan's Heroes."

The only women's prison show I ever liked was a BBC/Aussie production that was shown on PBS in the US in the early 80s....

It was called Tenko, and it was about a Japanese run women's prison camp in WW II:
The series dealt with the experiences of British, Australian and Dutch women who were captured after the Fall of Singapore in February 1942, after the Japanese invasion, and held in a Japanese internment camp on a Japanese-occupied island between Singapore and Australia. Having been separated from their husbands, herded into makeshift holding camps and largely forgotten by the British War Office, the women have to learn to cope with appalling living conditions, malnutrition, disease, violence and death.

I thought the same when I checked out the first season but it turned out to be a good show.

I see. You'd much rather watch a show about space aliens that speak English than some unrealistic prison series... 8-)

Other than Hogans Heroes, I have not heard of any of the shows mentioned in this thread.

And don't be knockin' Hogans Hereos. Col. Hogan and his gang nearly won WWII all by themsleves.

I fucking LOVED that show!

I would have bought a DVD set long ago if I could find one that's playable on North American DVD players.

I suppose hot lesbian scenes are out of the question?

I recall that Cell Block H series Scooter, and watched a good portion of it. the only problem, as I recall, is that it was a daily show (five times a week), and as I got older the story lines got thinner (involving people who were released and in halfway houses and even a guard that was arrested (and I think sent to that prison, although I doubt that would really happen--she'd go to another prison).
