A terrible tragedy, but people who enjoy watching an animal get tortured and killed deserve to see the video.

And in the annual Running Of The Idiots:
Pamplona Bull-Running Festival: 3 Americans, 1 Canadian Gored

by Alexander Smith and F. Brinley Bruton

Started like this:

Ended like this:

Three Americans and one Canadian were gored by bulls Friday during a chaotic day at Pamplona's San Fermin festival, officials said.

They were among seven men — six of them foreigners — who were gored during a second day of bull running at the annual event in northern Spain.

A 23-year-old Californian and a 55-year-old, whose home state was not given, were left with non-serious injuries under their left leg and left arm respectively, Spain's Navarra regional government said.

A third American, a 46-year-old man from Pensacola, Florida, was gored in the groin and his condition was described as "mild," officials said.[I'm trying to imagine how one could be "gored in the groin" in a way that would be "mild"... :? ]

Less fortunate was a 46-year-old Canadian man who was left in a serious condition after being gored in the left side of his scrotum, receiving a four-inch wound that also injured his rectum.[now that's gotta hurt...]

Among others gored were a 58-year-old Spaniard and a 73-year-old South African were listed in a serious condition, and 26-year-old Indian, whose condition was described as less serious.[humorous, perhaps]

Eight others were hospitalized for various other injuries. [Like the brain damage that would have led them to participate in this in the first place.... ]

Friday's 8 a.m. (2 a.m. ET) run descended into chaos after several bulls — each weighing up to 1,430 pounds, according to The Associated Press — broke away from the pack and began charging at random. [Wow...who could possibly have seen that coming...]

This has got to be the single most idiotic activity ever devised by the mind of man...

(Except of course for climbing up the side of a cliff with a baby strapped to your back... 8-) )

Thanks for reminding me of AMC's ridiculous advertising campaign.

My stepfather had a Barcelona coupe with the Oleg Cassini designed interior that was nearly identical to the one pictured when my mom decided he needed to quit driving. In reality, she waited too long. She sold it to a neighbor who gave it to his granddaughters for their school car. My BIL, whose first cousin was their mother, reported that the girls said that it would do an honest 120 MPH on the back roads to and from school. They pretty well ruined it in a couple of years. No AMC should be expected to endure that sort of torture on a daily basis.

I think they should have the running of the bulls, but not the bull slaughter fights after that.

But I did read of a matador being gored (and killed) by a bull today. First matador death since the mid 1980's.
Spanish bullfighter Victor Barrio killed in Teruel bullring

Fight in which matador, 29, died was being shown live on television while Saturday bull runs result in one death and several injuries

The running of the bulls endangers the animals so I think that should go along with the bullfights.

Long live disco dancing!

But it also endangers the people so it's equal opportunity

That's not true. They always ask the young bulls - "Do you want to run? If not, just say 'no' OK?"

I think it's more like "Do you want to run or get zapped with this electric prod? If not, just stand there. BZZZZZT!"
