A Premium Cable Show To Rave About...

Post by Lord Jim »

Dexter...
Dexter Morgan is a Forensics Expert, a loyal brother, boyfriend, and friend. That's what he seems to be, but that's not what he really is. Dexter Morgan is a Serial Killer that hunts the bad.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773262/

This show is NSFM (Not Safe For Meade... 8-) )

The protagonist is the ultimate anti-hero...A serial killer...

But a serial killer who only kills other killers...

A serial killer who has made the world a better place...

He has a "code"...

It's a really quirky, but well cast and well written show...

Part cop show, part black comedy, (especially the way his thoughts get shared with the audience) part psychodrama...

The show was on for eight seasons from 2007-2013, and we're now down to the last four episodes...

Lady Kelly and I are having a disagreement about whether or not Dexter will die in the last episode...(if you know the answer please don't post it)...

I think he has to die, because he's got too much Bad Karma...

Maybe he'll die in a way that will make him look like a hero to the Miami PD...(that would certainly suit the black comedy element of the show...)

Glad you finally got there on Dexter: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6030&p=73636&hilit=dexter#p73636 (among others)

Time for The Shield!

Not a spoiler, but my previous take:
Really a great ending to Justified. That was 6 seasons of TV worth watching. Three excellent shows that had endings that were uhh, Dexter, Sopranos and The Shield. But Justified stayed between excellent and sublime all the way to the end.

Say what you want, choose any show you want, but there will never be a better, more satisfying ending for a series than the way they closed out "Newhart" in 1990.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I can't argue with that; it was an unexpected surprise that I really enjoyed (and I didn't watch Newhart all that much and just happened to watch the finale). I also liked the final of Mad About You because it seemed to be just another episode in many ways; this was true of the finale of The Wonder Years as well.

I loved the first few seasons of Dexter, but was very disappointed by the last few. That show jumped the shark well before the bogus ending.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

That's funny Long Run, we had already decided that one would be next on our list...(Of course I had to consider instead going with Dixon of Docks Green, but I decided that my heart probably couldn't take the excitement...)

We watched the final episode of Dexter last night, and I have to agree with BSG, that I wasn't crazy about the way it ended...(especially if he had truly lost the need to kill, his decision didn't seem to make sense)

I also agree that the early seasons were better, (I think the best was Season 4 with John Lithigow as the main bad guy and Keith Carradine as Dexter's FBI foil was probably the best) but even though the show may have gone on past its prime, it was still better than most of what's on...
