Bosendorfer Piano

The Austrian piano company makes a special big grand with an extra octive of bass notes, on the left end of the standard 88.

Been selling it for more than a hundred years and it now sells in the USofA for about a quarter of a million $$$$$. Even if you never play those extra keys, the strings are down there resonating and producing special harmonics that give it a different sound. Few 'classical' concert performers like that difference. Some jazz piano players love it. The German Boogie Woogie specialist, Axel Zwingenberger has recorded with it. Some critics say that is heretical, that kind of music only belongs on a beat-up, out of tune upright typical of the barrel house joints where that kind of music was rooted.

Any suggestions, beyond Axel Zwingenber, for recordings of any style music that shows of the special sound of the big Bosendorfer 290?

Bösendorfer Imperial Concert $250 Grand Piano. A wonderful instrument for those who can afford it.

I think he meant $250 grand ($250,000) ... although he could have been more clear about it.
