On December 26th, 2016 oldr_n_wsr went to the movies with his wife and son and saw Rogue One.
We brought our own candy and drinks (unsweetened Iced Tea for me) and got $2 off per ticket for going in the afternoon.
And the movie didn't suck.

You've been holding out on us oldr...
You have a natural talent to be a film critic...

Good on you. At the movies around here it is harder to bring in your own refreshments than to bring in a submachine gun.

They even had reclining seats with cup holders.
what will they think of next
They didn't suck either.
My wife fell asleep during the last half of the movie. I didn't have the heart to wake her up. Told her we could have stayed home and taken a nap there without spending the money.
I wouldn't tell her how the movie turned out.
She can catch it on re-runs.

Now if I could only get to more movies I could have a new career.

I watched a movie on DVD the other night: The Imitation Game , it was about Allan Turing and the Ultra project in World War II that broke the German military code. It was pretty good and I learned that scientist call a computer a Turing machine in honor of Allan Turing.
My wife and I also went to see the new Jack Reacher movie, Never Go Back. It was as good as the average good movie, but disappointing to us. It was nothing like the book. The book was much better. The problem with converting a book to a movie is that so much is lost in the translation.
I hope they make another Jack Reacher movie and this time keep it closer to the book and narrate it. The one I would like to see is Bad Luck and Trouble. It is the story where Reacher’s old sergeant reassembles the defunct special investigators team to solve the murder of some of their retired members.

"The Imitation Game"? I thought that was one of the best flicks I've seen in the last few years. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favourite actors. I have the DVD in my collection and have viewed it three times so far.
