Rise up!

When you’re living on your knees, you rise up
Tell your brother that he’s gotta rise up
Tell your sister that she's gotta rise up
Off to see Hamilton this weekend, finally! I cannot tell you how excited I am -- I've been looking forward to this for months. If you like history, or you like music, or you like poetry, it is so worth the time to listen to the soundtrack (which streams free for Amazon Prime members and is available in many youtube videos), or even better, watch "Hamilton's America" on PBS.

See y'all next week.

Chicago, not NYC. Still can't get my hands on tickets in NYC for a price I'm willing to pay. The plane ticket to Chicago is cheaper (and I get to bring my dear friend and my godson along, too).
We do get to see Wayne Brady in the role of Aaron Burr though, which should be fascinating.

Is this the same Wayne Brady I used to see on "Whose Line is it Anyway"? He's brilliant.
Have a wonderful time!

Don't forget "Let's Make A Deal."

Yes! Interesting review in the Chicago Tribune, which seems to think that he has the edgy personality to make a really good Burr, but probably not the same vocal power as the original cast member he replaced.

Thank you! I bought my tickets in June, that's a lifetime ago.

Best. Show. Ever.* It was just perfect, and exceeded my very high expectations. A small, minimal stage, creative use of lighting and a revolving center stage. Amazing choreography. I already adore the music. The performances were terrific. The audience cheered, laughed, danced in their seats (I did, anyway), clapped, sang along, stamped their feet, cried, and stood up. Find a way to see it.
* My personal pantheon of musicals had Les Miz at the top, followed closely by Rent, with A Chorus Line next, and then Cats/A King and I/West Side Story/Fiddler/Sound of Music/My Fair Lady all clumped together.

I saw A Chorus Line. back in '75 I think
Girlfriend at the time got tickets for her birthday.
Of course it was the same day that the Islanders were playing the rangers in the playoffs so I was pissed that I was missing that.
But I made the best of it (not really, I was not a nice person back then)
