The rear of a white BMW was left protruding from the wall of a factory after a crash.
Firefighters were called at about 11:50 BST to Swan Road in Banbury after the car partially crashed through the wall of Laser Sailboats Ltd.
The driver was taken to Horton General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and one person was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Emergency services personnel stayed on the scene to make the building safe.
Station manager Mark Ames said: "When we arrived the powerful BMW was embedded in the wall of the factory, and our immediate concerns were for the driver of the car and the workers inside of the factory.

It's interesting to me how clean the broken brick is, nice and snug against the car.

That's a well built automobile! And the brick wall is obviously very solidly done as well!

Or a poorly built wall.

Isn't it a sign of good masonry when only the section that was hit fell down? Seems so to me. Poor masonry would have seen the surrounding sections crumble as well.

It's a weakly held together brick wall.

Doesn't look like enough mortar between the bricks. On the left side wall bricks I see hardly any at all. Or at least the surface of the mortar has disintegrated. One would expect larger chunks of connected bricks to be present. It's like the bricks were just stacked with nothing holding them together.
Either crappily(?) mixed cement or an old building or both. Re-pointing is sorely needed.

So weakened mortar in an aged building - but bricks so precisely set that the integrity of the remaining wall remained intact, despite also having weakened mortar. Seems the masonry of the wall was pretty good quality. :ok

That picture, leaves me impressed with the car...

BMW could use it in an ad...

"The BMW 1-Series...You can drive it through a brick wall and get barely a scratch"...

If you know what you're looking for there is far more than a scratch but it behaved well which isn't all that hard on a full frontal crash.

Probably a different story if it had hit a freshly set brick wall.
