JG, yes, you posted this a few years back. I think you said you were a roadie for the group until you went back to high school to complete your formal education.

Thanks for the reminder. I can't remember whether or not I graduated from high school either. All I remember is getting so bombed on Grad Night that I couldn't remember anything that happened that day.

Is that Ted Mack (Original Amateur Hour)? I recall watcing that show, brough to you by Geritol--twice the iron in a pound of calf's liver. It kind of looks like I recall him, but I'm not sure.

I am positive it is Ted Mack. I was surprised by the clip above. I was sure Ted Mack's original amateur hour was gone from tv before Rock n Roll became the thing for three kids with guitars and who can get a drum set? The lead singer here has some nice moves that remind me of Chubby Checker. A quick trip to wikipedia informed me the show stayed on network tv well into the golden age of RnR.

But I fondly remember the musical saw and the spoon virtuosi.

thanks BP, I thought so; as I recall, it lasted int at least the late 60s--it wound up being a weekend afternoon show (kind of like Wide World of Sports) late in its run.

If they're singing about driving a Thunderbird, why did they call themselves The Continentals?
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Because there were already a dozen or so garage bands already calling themselves "The Thunderbirds"??

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Those Jokers--too bad they would not give their back-up singers any camera time. Snailgate
