Joel C. Rosenberg
I finally looked it up and discovered that Joel Rosenberg is a Christian and an American. I suspect that
Donna Andrew and Lisa Scottoline are also closet Americans; I would be disappointed to learn that they are real liberals.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

That information saved me from all the trouble of having to look it up for myself.
Re: Joel C. Rosenberg
As hard as you liberals try, you can’t keep Christians and real American out of the book business. Liberal editor do their best but we always manage to slip some by them. I have noticed that Scottoline’s early books contained profanity, but her later books do not. Why do you think that is? Could it be that liberal editors use profanity as a device to identify and prevent Christian writers form getting a start? But once a writer like Scottoline establishes herself as a money maker, she has the clout to resist a liberal editor. Liberal editors hate God, but love money a lot more.RayThom wrote:I was wondering about this myself just recently.liberty wrote:I finally looked it up and discovered that Joel Rosenberg is a Christian and an American. I used Scottoline here because she is a lawyer but any struggle real American writer that succeeded would do for this example.

Re: Joel C. Rosenberg
The only book of Lisa Scottoline’s I’ve read is a collection of humor columns entitled ‘My Third Husband Will Be a Dog’.
She doesn’t strike me as terribly socially conservative.

Re: Joel C. Rosenberg
Lisa Scottoline writes a regular column ("Chick Wit") for the Philadelphia Inquirer, which is my local fishwrap. I have never noticed her to take an overtly political or religious stance on anything. Her column is pretty innocuous all around. I have not read her mystery novels, but I have heard her interviewed on Fresh Air; other than keeping women in the forefront of her writing, it doesn't seem to me that she has any particular socio-political agenda. Her values seem to be pretty mainstream for soccer-mom suburban Philadelphia.
Joel Rosenberg was a Rush Limbaugh acolyte before he began writing Christian apocalyptic fiction. I guess he's found his own way to that same market.
Never heard of Donna Andrew.

Come on guys - we can do better than this. Maybe we could do a little book burning to catch up? Oh sorry, that was the other guys. Forget I mentioned that.

You can't use Gitmo? Or the Immigration internment camps? Oh wait, you did say" humane"--sorry.

Gort is the first individual mentioned in this thread that I've heard of. Should I have heard of any of those mentioned in the OP?

Re: Joel C. Rosenberg
One thing I always wondered in the film--Andrews said that the allied planets (or whatever they called themselves) gave the robots absolute power to enforce the peace, that the power could not be overrriden. Yet he could stop Gort (hell Patricia Neal could) by those magic words. Now maybe Gort was a controllable robot for diplomatic missions, while the others were beyond control, but at the very least somone bent on planetary domination could take one or more of those controllable robots, learn the magic words, and use them to battle the others. Or, if they were all controllable, they could learn the magic words and use them on the battlefield, much as the Monty Python guys did with the funniest jokein the world.

Yeah and didn't they have diesel vehicles back then huh huh? They'd still work even if the electricity did an Amelia.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. But according to Google Translate, "Klaatu barada nikto" means "Nikko, who does not come." Why is this? What is wrong with poor Nikko? Does he need some ED meds? If yes I can forward some handy e-mails his way. I just need an address.
