Great Unsteely Dan Performance...

Post by Joe Guy »

I am a big fan of Steely Dan and I've seem them a few times. Every time they performed this song when I was in the audience, they didn't have any lead guitar part, which I always wanted to see and hear them do. (They always did a horn arrangement instead) Although he isn't the guitarist on the original recording, Jon Herrington nails it in this live performance.

As an aside, 'Reelin' in the Years' was played so often on the radio when it was first released that I got sick of hearing it, but this performance is hard for me to not like. Note: Boz Scaggs, who is also in this band that call themselves "The Dukes Of September" is another favorite performer of mine. Michael McDonald, who also played and sang background vocals on a few of Steely Dan's albums, is good, but I'm not really a fan of his.

Anyway, I hope at least some of you enjoy this as much as I did:
