Poor Things

Post by Big RR »

I saw this film in movies yesterday and loved it; I think it may be streaming as wel. The director, Yorgos Lanthimos, has a very strange sense of humor and it permeates all his films (The Lobster, Killing of the Sacred Deer, and The Favorite are the ones he filmed in English that come to mind before this one); so it's not for everyone (indeed, if you saw and disliked any of them, you may want to skip this one).. But I recommend giving it a chance; it pays off well. I think it's nominated for 7 Golden Globes and is prominent among the films being discussed for Academy Award nominations, and is the recipient of many positive critic reviews.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
