I didn't know until just now, but Hudson, the last member of The Band, died on Tuesday. He was best known for his organ playing: but the work of his that will always remain with me is his soprano sax in 'It Makes No Difference." Robbie's guitar, Rick's voice and Levon on drums of course.

Thank you. I only knew of The Band for their association with Bob Dylan. According to Wikipedia, they were older than the Beetles (Lennon, McCartney, Harrison got together first in 1958) The Band started in 1957. Even a snob like me admits they made great music.

The Band were already superstars when I was first introduced to their music and they were a huge part of the soundtrack of my teen years. (I once played backing fiddle for a band that did a pretty decent cover of I Shall Be Released.) Makes me feel rather nostalgic, also really old. Goodbye to the last of them.
GAH!

Thanks Andy, I hadn't heard. I may pull out some of my old vinyl tonight to listen to them.
