See it. I know it's a "horror" movie but it's really a music movie, plus the actors are all great and the story is pretty good. Could/should win an Oscar in a number of categories.

I was just contemplating whether to watch that yesterday, and opted for something else. I guess I'll watch it today given your recommendations are generally very reliable.

It is fundamentally a commentary on maintaining cultural identity and community in the face of external pressures. The genre is pretty much incidental. I think you'll like it.

It's worth a watch, but I think the point could have been made better without including vampires. I understand the metaphor the director/writer were trying to use, but I thought it was heavy handed. The music, on the other hand, was a lot of fun.

Well it's not exactly subtle, but if you're going for mass market appeal vampires will get more eyeballs than a talky little indie rumination.

Just after reading Sue’s OP and replying, I saw a segment on MSNOW on the best films of 2025, and Sinners was among them with the reviewer saying it was a critical darling as well as a financial success/hit with audiences, so more reason to see it. I also learned in that segment that the violence I saw in the trailer (sometimes a turnoff for me) is vampire related, which makes me more inclined to tolerate it because vampires aren’t real - but they do serve a purpose in allegorical fiction.
We ended up watching The Banker today, so will do Sinners tomorrow instead.
If anyone has any other must see recommendations from Apple TV please advise - I have a few more weeks with it.

I'm glad I'm a 'watch the credits to the very end' kind of nerd - that's a head's up to anyone who hasn't yet seen it, but is planning to watch.
Also this is the first time in 55 years a vampire movie made me cry. SOOOOOO freaking good! I will definitely be watching it again, maybe tomorrow. The music is fantastic!

Glad you liked it!
I would also recommend Caught Stealing, which is not Oscar material but kinda fun in a fucked up way.
We saw Weapons, too, which was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Also saw One Battle After Another, which I have very mixed feelings about.
Interested in seeing Train Dreams, Marty Supreme and Eddington in recent releases.
