I have used different brands of toothpicks depending on what I am building. I also have many friends and family members that collect toothpicks in their travels for me. For example, some of the trees in Golden Gate Park are made from toothpicks from Kenya, Morocco, Spain, West Germany and Italy. The heart inside the Palace of Fine Arts is made out of toothpicks people threw at our wedding.

Quite agree.....however (and I know this is mean) I always think that people that do those sorta things are a bit sad and need to get out more!! I mean who the fuck goes travelling thinking best not forget to pick me up some toothpicks!!
and it does look a bit like like shitty brown fairy floss!!
Re: Take your pick..
I saw it up close and poisonal at the Sonoma County Fair a few years ago. Spectacular. It was a bit frustrating because I wanted to spend a nice long time up close to it trying to identify all the stuff, and there were lots of other people who wanted to do the same thing. It looks as if he's added a bit since I saw it.

I agree it is a bit OCD and I also admit that from photos I can't make out why you would worry about specific toothpicks for specific trees. But I am happy that someone made it, I have seen it, and it didn't cost me 35 years.

Bah!

A fabulous artistic expression of mental illness, most definitely.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I hope the toothpicks weren't made from any exotic woods that is usually not allowed to be imported. For example, some of the trees in Golden Gate Park are made from toothpicks from Kenya, Morocco, Spain, West Germany and Italy.
