Does Anyone Know The Way?
There's Got To Be
Otway The Block Buster
2002 the Hit
2012 the Movie
I now have the plans for my 60th birthday next year:

We've done The London Astoria, The Royal Albert Hall and The London Palladium.

Now we intend to book one of the huge Cinemas in Leicester Square for the World Premier of…
Otway The Movie

We have a stunning, great location to film the opening scene of this blockbuster that'll certainly set alight the film industry in the same way that Bunsen Burner set the music industry ablaze almost a decade ago.

I've been invited to open the Age Concern Shop in my home town Aylesbury, at 11:00am on Saturday July 9th.

Why not join me as the words "lights, camera, action" are spoken, I cut the ribbon and the opening to the story of my career is captured for the silver screen.

Come looking your best - let's get the opening scenes shot, support this wonderful charity and then join me for a drink in the Bell Hotel at the Bottom of the Market Square for a pint at midday and I'll fill you in on all the plans.

Note the Stow Maries show with Richard Holgarth on 24th July which is just in .

Glastonbury this year was a huge success - The Acoustic Tent was packed and there's a bunch more great festivals to come.

And don't forget Dunkerque this Autumn, it's filling up fast - details are here if you want to know more

Cheers

The last time you asked, you got this answer;
Gob wrote:
John Otway, (born 2 October 1952, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire) is an English singer-songwriter, who has built a sizeable cult audience through extensive touring, a surreal sense of humour and a self-deprecating underdog persona

I first saw John on "The Old Grey Whistle Test", like everyone else watching I thought he was a punk. This impression was heightened when during his second number he leaped onto his amp, fell off, cracking his nuts against the amp and unplugging the music, but carried on regardless.

Polydor thought he was a punk too, and signed him for a 5 album deal. It wasn't much later that everyone realised John wasn't a punk.

He was/is a twat.

He had one freak hit single, but became much loved as "Rock and Roll's greatest failure. He's released albums and books, and has made a living out of touring his stage show which is part music, part comedy and part "is he going to seriously damage himself (again) this gig"?

I've seen him live 20+ times, we're on first name terms. I do my best to tout him and his antics as, like all true fans I'm somewhat obsessed, and believe he could make it big some day.

In fact he had a second hit single, though he did a major scam to get this; "Bunsen Burner...".
In 2002, when asked what he wanted for his 50th birthday, he requested "a second hit".

A concerted drive, including a poll (scrutinised by the Electoral Reform Society) to select the track, saw "Bunsen Burner" — with music sampled from the Trammps song "Disco Inferno" and lyrics devised to help his daughter with her chemistry homework — reach number nine in the UK Singles Chart on 6 October, and earned Otway an appearance on Top Of The Pops, BBC Television's flagship popular music programme.

To encourage fans to buy more than one copy each of the single, he released three different versions. The flip-side of "Bunsen Burner — The Hit Mix" was a cover of "The House of the Rising Sun" recorded at Abbey Road Studios and featuring 900 of his fans on backing vocals, each of whom was credited by name on the single's sleeve.

Thanks to this second hit he has now been able to release his Greatest Hits album. Commenting on the fact that the title of this album is now in the plural, Otway said that he was very proud of it, having "finally got it (the 's') on the right side of Hit".

Gob has high hopes of Otway staying with us next time he plays Australia.

If that happens, I think I might just lock myself in my room, hug my knees, and rock backwards and forwards until it is all better again.

Checking again, I see why I forgot this guy ...and why no one else posts about him.

Hen doesn't count, she's obligated to agree with you.

Nobody else posts about him? Funny that, every time I've raised him you've felt the need to chip in with your usual fuckwitted comments.

Seeing as John would only be of interest to Brit people of my age, of which I am the sole representative here, it's hardly likely that there would be a great involvement of the board. I only post them post them for my amusement, and as a way of supporting John in his endeavours.

Still what with you now well established as the board attention whore, it's no wonder you need to prostitute what little intelligence you have attempting to draw ire to yourself.

Got a new e-mail from him last night BTW.
