Just came out, called Hang Cool, Teddy Bear. And he's touring this summer! Woo-hoo! I hope I can get tickets for Mohegan Sun in CT or the Bank America Pavilion in Boston.

(And I hope he sings Hot Patootie, Dead Ringer For Love, and Midnight At The Lost And Found[/i] at the show!)

How's his voice fairing these days? I saw him some 20 years back and he could barely sing, needed oxygen between lines!

Is it a Jim Steinman album?

He could sing just fine...he just tended to pass out between sets. Someone would put an oxygen mask on him, everyone would just step over him until he woke up. (Seriously. He is a severe athsmatic.) I saw him in 2007 (Boston, MA)--he's lost some of his vocal range and some of his sheer vocal POWER, but still does quite a show.

However, he's limited to about an hour and a half on stage before a break by his doctor's orders.

Hang Cool, Teddy Bear is his fourth album with no Steinman songs on it. (Others are Welcome To The Neighborhood, Midnight At The Lost And Found, and the Frank Farian-mutilated Blind Before I Stop. IIRC, Desmond Child is producing it (as he did most of Bat III); he, Nikki Sixx, and John5 wrote most of the material.

And there are now two obscure albums I need to get: Steinman's solo Bad For Good, and the one release Steinman-produced female vocal group Pandora's Box.

"Bad for good" isn't bad at all, Meatloaf lite.

Didn't Steinman produce Bonnie Tyler, the fat Welsh tart, too?

Don't know if he produced them, but he wrote most of Bonnie Tyler's songs, including Total Eclipse Of The Heart...I have a compilation CD called Heaven And Hell, with Meat and Tyler's songs (seven each). My favorite Tyler song is her covering John Fogarty's Have You Ever Seen the Rain...they have a very similar vocal range, and her deep voice is perfect for that song. I'd love to hear her cover Proud Mary and Fogarty's iconic Centerfield. :)

Steinman just doesn't have the vocal range or power for the songs he writes...I have a couple of tracks off [Bad For Good, and he's definitely straining to sing some of the lines.

Just found out he produced the Sisters of Mery's "This Corrosion"! (my favourite 80's band!)

Excellent piece of neo-Wagnarain rock..
