A Thread For "Closer" Fans...

Post by Lord Jim »

I believe we have a couple of them around here...

Okay, who do you think is "the leak"?

At first I thought it might be Pope....

He might think that now that he has a shot at becoming Chief Of Police, that he might want to get rid of Brenda Leigh because she's too much of a loose cannon...

But if you look at all the factors involved it doesn't add up;

He's been too vested in her, and having this go on only makes the chances of his getting the COP appointment made permanent less likely...he would like nothing more than for the whole thing to go away...

It really can't be Gabriel; that would be too obvious....they already hung him out as the potential leak in the original lawsuit, and that was a dead end...

It's clearly not Sanchez since he's made clear that he's on the same page with Brenda in terms of seeing really bad guys get what they reserve....

Flynn might be a possibility...

He started off with a really negative attitude towards The Chief....

But at this point she's saved his ass so many times, he seems to have come around and I can't see him being that disloyal (besides, like Sanchez, he doesn't have a problem with dirt bags getting what they deserve even if it involves bending the letter of the law a bit)

Same thing with Provenza; if it turns out to be either Flynn or Provenza, there are going to be some real "continuity" problems...it would cheat the audience to make either of them the rat; there's no logical reason for them to do it...

I can't believe it would be Taylor, because again it would be too obvious;

Clearly he's bitter about how things worked out, and that would give him good motive....

But he isn't really part of the team, and he wouldn't have all the detailed information about every case that the fanatic moron lawyer Peter Goldman knows about...

So, using Holmes' "once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth" formula, I have concluded that the leak is most likely....

Buzz....

Francis "Buzz" Watson...the "LAPD Civilian Surveillance Coordinator" the young guy who takes all the videos....

He's treated exactly like a member of the team, and is privy to all the info they get....they trust him completely...

But he's displayed a number of times a self righteous "goody two shoes" streak that makes him the kind of guy who could easily have been manipulated by Goldman's self righteous schtick....

Plus, he has no strong attachment to Brenda; she's never saved his ass....

If it ain't Buzz, there's only one other possibility....

That would be Fritz...

I continue to be astonished that "The Closer" is a popular show.

I watch a lot of television. I watch a lot of crime shows. And I have tried repeatedly to watch "The Closer". I keep hearing/seeing/reading that it is a good show, and I am always interested in a good show, so I have tried and tried and tried.

Why does anyone watch this crap? Implausible, unsympathetic main character; ludicrous plot lines (even by TV standards); acting which only rarely rises to the level of mediocrity.

Why?
Reason is valuable only when it performs against the wordless physical background of the universe.
