I take this occasion to salute one of the most poignant films of the past generation, "Groundhog Day."
It combines some outrageously funny lines, illustration of the worst and best aspects of human nature, a bit of romance, and yet it is basically a story of redemption.
Much greater than the sum of its parts, it belongs in the same category as A Tale of Two Cities, Moby Dick, and Citizen Kane.
Long after we have all assumed room temperature, audiences will be watching and re-watching this film, mining it for it's multi-layered delights. Even now, it is shown by Ethics, Philosophy, and Film professors, and cited by clergy of almost every religious denomination for its timeless themes.
It's not just a cable TV standard, after all.

Happy 20th Anniversary!
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
