I enjoyed the chunky Germans synchronised dancing, but the polka was rather sad. It would have been great if the song was a fraction ... interesting?

Germans are frickin weird.

And Jim, you're just listening to the wrong kind of polkas. Lots of great Cajun/Tejano/Norteno polkas out there. What you gonna dance to if you find yourself at a roadhouse in East Texas?
