Getting tired of listening to music at work and can't afford a book on tape every day. So I figured I'd start downloading some of the NPR Shows I missed. that got me hooked ended up downloading a bunch of the old time mystery horror and suspense radio programs.

Hopefully that will keep me busy for a while.

Any suggestions?

But seriously mate, being in the same or at least a similar situation to you, this has proved invaluable.

First broadcast:Wednesday 10 October 2012

Lilian is still frosty with Matt regarding the Walters' house and Matt is making efforts to be jolly. Lilian reminds Matt of Darrell's other work and Matt is cautious, asking casual questions to see if she knows that Paul's in the area. [suspense!] Matt's keen to keep her mind busy on other things. [suspense!]

Brenda visits Tom, who's ecstatic because he's found somewhere to produce his ready meals and keep his organic status. Brenda's pleased to see him so happy.

Kathy unpacks the shopping and asks Jamie how college was. Jamie hates it and tells her that he's no good at it. Kathy offers to go and speak to his tutor but Jamie says there's no point and leaves. Concerned, Kathy picks up the phone.

After offering to help Phoebe with the chickens after school, Josh asks Phoebe how she's settling back in. Phoebe feels like a bit of an outsider after her time away. Josh thought it might be about Vicky's baby. [horror!]
Tom and Brenda are enjoying the sunset whilst checking on the weaners. They take the scenic route back and Tom reminisces about his childhood in the area. He loves Bridge Farm and he suggests that they could build a house and settle there. Brenda is apprehensive
that's just one 15 min episode, the weekly podcast is 90 mins.

Oh, good tip for you C-P, though you probably already know this, but your local library wil probably loan out audiobooks.

I've got dozens and dozens that way, hence this debate here; viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6550

THe ones I've found are under "old time radio" don't know how much you've heard of them (some are even before your time) but they've hade some good stuff back then.

I have a collection of Edgar Allen Poe stories adapted for radio and they're some good stuff (Peter Lorre doing the Black cat and Vincent price doing the Pit and the pendulum stand out in my mind as well as some others who I don't know by name) Nothing beats the cigarette adds tho. To think there was a time i didn't know I had a "T" zone.

Our libary has it's catalogue online, I just skim that, order in any I need/fancy, and they deliver them to the local library for me to collect.

Just had a great radio adaptation of "Dracula" out.
