Move over young ones, the world's senior superstars are coming to town.
And because of the hundreds of millions of albums they've sold throughout their careers, they won't be needing pensioner cards any time soon.
Four legends of music will be in Australia within the next fortnight: 66-year-old Barry Gibb, 72-year-old Cliff Richard, 70-year-old Carole King and 72-year-old Ringo Starr.
That's not forgetting 71-year-old Paul Simon's headlining appearance at Bluesfest in March, an event that includes other renowned artists such as Santana and his fellow 65-year-old, Iggy Pop. Also on his way is Neil Young, 67.
So who really cares about their age when these artists are still producing the incredible music they've always made? It should be irrelevant, but their return signifies the increasing power of the ''grey dollar'' in music - baby boomers will pay big bucks to see the icons of their generation play live.
Wouldn't cross the road to see any of them these days, but its a bloody sad reminder how old we're all getting...

Paul Simon still sounds great. His latest is very good...

I saw Cliff Richard 25 years ago and I thought he was in his 70s then -- to this day, the most boring concert I have ever attended. I'd still go see Carole King and of course Iggy, even though he's a total geezer --with him, you just never know what will happen.
I regret that I couldn't get it together to see Neil Young when he was here in November (Patti Smith opened!).

I saw Paul Simon in concert about 10 years ago and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to--maybe even THE best.

Yet you've got tickets to see John Fucking Lydon, and I can't think of any reminder sadder than that.

You're right, that is very good. I actually like it a lot better than his hits of the 70s and 80s.

Paul Simon and Neil Young still bring it. Iggy was more of an energy than a musician.

Never saw Niel Young live, wouldn't mind going to a concert of his.
I'm thinking about getting tickets to The Who's Quad tour this february. Saw the Who twice, once with Keith Moon and once without. Was a little young when they had the first Quad tour but don't know if The Who with just Pete and Roger is really The Who (but of course The Who IS Pete Townsend). I do miss John (the Ox) and Keith.

A friend of mine can get Who tix through some inside connection, and called last week to say they'll be playing Atlantic City (Borgata?) and will take me along. We'll see.

I just checked, looks like Nassau Coliseum by you on Feb 21, then Boardwalk Hall in AC the next night.

That's what I am shooting for. Not too far away (about 25 miles). They are advertising tickets on the radio so I am guessing it's not sold out.
