Daisy, any good?

Post by Gob »

Review of Broadchurch – Series 1, episode 1

David Tennant is back on the box in Broadchurch. His beard isn’t exactly befitting of a Deputy Inspector but it does mark a whole new post-Doctor Who era.

Tennant plays DI Alec Harding, a brooding Scot who has been recruited by the local police force in the fictional Dorset seaside town of Broadchurch. His appointment comes as a disappointment to DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) who was promised DI Harding’s job. No sooner has Tennant’s character been hired than the dead body of an 11-year-old child is found on Broadchurch beach, close to a well-known suicide spot.

Broadchurch is made by Kudos, the same production company that brought us Spooks, Hustle and Life on Mars. That coupled with ITV’s current golden run of drama success with Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, it looks promising that Broadchurch might be another jewel in the channel’s drama crown

Not watched it yet, i'm having to record lots of stuff whenever Cookie is out of the UK - 2 weeks out of every four for over a year :( - and then catch up.

We're almost caught up on Great British Menu, then we have Derek, then Broadchurch ....

Sounds good!

Derek, I'm not too sure about, not a great Gervais fan.

Derek is beautiful, compelling comedy. Even if you're not a fan of Gervais, the supporting cast are brilliant and Karl's acting is a revelation.

Karls acting in an "Idiot Abroad" was a revelation! ;)

Broadchurch was bloody good.

Watched it all in two sittings, apart from being distracted by Doctor Who, Rory Williams and the woman who was possessed by Prisoner Zero, I found it utterly absorbing and beautifully made.

Thanks Dais, I'll see if I can "acquire" it. ;)

I've watched the first two eps of Derek now. It's sheer genius!

It doesn't matter if you're a Gervais fan or not. The only people who could possibly fail to enjoy it are the emotionally retarded.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

So how is it you're enjoying it?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
