Sounds too country for my tastes.

His music is more folk rock than it is country. He seems like the the type that will eventually try different styles and experiment with sounds. I hate it, but I'm sure we will see comparisons to Dylan or Springsteen, but I guess that's some people's way of saying someone has an 'original' or 'individual' style.

I could see this kid developing into a great songwriter & performer with a big following if he doesn't allow the music business to destroy him by marketing him as something like the new Justin Beiber or 2nd coming of Leonard Cohen.... :D

He definitely has a little twang that gives an aura of country -- but I do agree the overall effect is more Dylan (not so much Springsteen).

Even if it meant missing Kenny Rogers?

I notice (on that poster showing all the stages and acts) that Jake Bugg and Kenny Rogers are both on the big stage, the Pyramid Stage (the one with the Stones, Mumford&Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello, et al.)...probably to avoid just that problem! :lol:

Especially if it means missing Kenny Rogers!!

If you check back on the Main music thread I posted another one of Jake Buggs videos "Seen it All" it's so far my favourite track of 2013.

So does Adele she sounds somewhat like Taylor Swift. Broaden your horizons Gob; I for example like everythihg from Dr. Hook to Conway Tweety. Control your prejudges and learn to love Achy Breaky Heart.

My tastes are quite eclectic, some recent listenings can be found in this thread. But not country, just not my cuppa.

An indication of the variety of music I enjoy.

Sunday night I saw this;
In April 2013, Sydney Opera House will present The Composers: Arvo Pärt, a celebration of the work of one of the most revered composers of our times. The program will include a chamber performance by the Sydney Youth Orchestra and a concert by The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Musicians of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra with soloists Satu Vänskä, Kirsty Hilton and Veronique Serret conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste.

Tomorrow night I'll be attending this;
After a monumental 2012 that saw the band release their first album in two decades to broad critical acclaim, English post-rock band Public Image Ltd have announced a string of new tour dates for 2013, including three huge shows on Australia’s East Coast.

Flanked by their fearless leader, Sex Pistols vocalist John Lydon, PiL will make a triumphant return to Australia for the first time in 20 years to showcase tracks from their critically acclaimed new album This Is PiL as well as favourites from their vast back catalogue.

Adele doesn't have a twangy-country bone in her body. Seriously, have you listened to her music at all?

Just a little, on the news, but to me it sounded similar to Taylor Swift. And you know there are different sub-genre of country and to me each sounds a little deferent. Blue grass, honky tonk and contemporary all sound different with different levels of what you call twang.

Anyone who thinks Adele sounds anything like Taylor Swift has serious hearing problems and should see a doctor.

I have seen and heard Taylor Swift, but have no idea who Adele is. and don't bother with any youtube links as they don't show up here I'll just have to ask my wife and/or daughter who Adele is.

What is this hostility that some liberals seem to have toward country music. I remember when Von Jovi released a hit country song ; he was as much as accused of being a traitor by the red haired liberal on the View. I can understand not fancying a type of music. I don’t like rap. But I wouldn’t say I hate it even though it does cause harm to our society with its message hate and violence and rape.

I for one like country music a lot (opera and rap are really the only kinds of music I don't care for at all)--but I have to agree with the view that Adele sounds nothing like Taylor Swift.
