It may get better....

A hero soldier who lost a leg in Afghanistan has been denied a disabled parking badge three times by council bosses.

Lance Corporal Johno Lee has clocked up £800 in fines for parking in disabled bays in his home town of Newark, Nottinghamshire, on days when he uses a wheelchair or feels unable to walk very far.

When he first applied to Nottinghamshire County Council for a blue badge, he was advised he was young and 'may get better'.

I'd beat them over the head with my prosthetic leg.

They asked the veteran why he thinks he was denied the badge and he said...

"I don't know. I'm stumped."

Is there some sort of an IQ requirement to serve on a local council in Great Britain?

Like, if it's over 70 you're automatically disqualified?
We are looking into the matter and have arranged for a member of staff to meet Mr Lee to review the situation.

What the hell is there to "review?" Do they want to make sure he's not just faking having one leg?

It's a shame the guy's not an unemployed Somali immigrant....

They'd probably pay for someone to carry him around 24/7.

Jim, as ever I think you've nailed it.

This is what happens when you mandate everything, and micro manage workers down to the crossing of the T's and dotting of the i's.

I see it every day in work, where some people are so in awe of "getting the paper work done", they forget to use the slightest bit of common sense.
