She and I were discussing the high unemployment in the USA. It is her opinion that the 15 million or so unemployed are not "really looking for work" and "they can make more money living off unemployment benefits than working".
It is impossible to ascertain whether the unemployed are really looking for work or watching TV, but having lived off UI for a time I know that the pittance paid out comes no where near what I made while working.
I did not wish to argue with a 21-year old sage, I remained silent.
