I have always been baffled by pride in ancient ancestry. I had no choice in the matter. I did nothing that contributed to any achievements of my ancestors. Perhaps it is just humiliation on my part when first I picked up the dictionary my mother used each evening while working the crossword puzzle in the daily newspaper. The book had several sections including 'biographical dictionary'. I looked up my three names and found they had similar meanings. The family name entry was brief and I memorized it: . . . First King of Jerusalem (during Crusades) Died of syphilis.
Now that is far more interesting than anything ancestory dot com could tell me about my DNA.

That’s new! But still, I’m not keen on waiting another 8 months to read it - and what might possibly be a version bereft of proper English language usage for fear of frightening American readers, lol.
No worries though, I’d entirely forgotten about abebooks and all the UK booksellers who ship to the US free. I’ve located a new hard bound copy of the original printing, free shipping, for less than Amazon would charge me in 8 months for the paperback - and I’ll be able to donate it to my local library afterward.
Sorry to trouble you.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

No worries. Mine was in the new Amazon "KFX" digital rights management format, so far I haven't found a crack for it.
