You're up to bat, bsg.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

The quote sounds familiar, but I can't place the flick...

I think I know--I'll give it my usual 24 hours or so before I answer.

Hints: classic film, Oscar-winning, older than me, strong female lead

Nah, not Mary Pickford; when I think of her I visualize a poor fragile waif type.  I'm leaning more toward the likes of Mae "Come up and see me sometime" West or Marlene "See what the boys in the back room will have" Dietrich.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Apparently this one's a possible stumper? Another quote:
"I've never seen you take a drink in your life."

"Honey, there are a lot of things you ain't never seen me do, that's no sign I don't do 'em."

One of the recent posts (I'm not going to say which one, because it would be a giveaway) jogged my memory, and I'm now pretty sure I know the flick...

But Big RR also said he knows the answer, and I think he was going to take it if no one else got it...

If he doesn't stop by to answer it by tomorrow morning, (and nobody else gets it) I'll give what I am now pretty sure is the answer...

Something I saw on Google when I googled this quote jogged my memory too. But I didn't read it. So if LJ doesn't let Big RR get it and Ray isn't correct in his (unusually apt) guess, then I will see if oldr doesn't step in but if he doesn't and if Guin doesn't get it, which she probably would if she knew it and bothered, then I might have to consider reading the Google thing.

I was sure I didn't know it and I Googled it...but then one of the posts (maybe the same one Jim referred to?) contained a hint that would have given it away to me if I hadn't already cheated...
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.
