OK, here's a change in the genre; two quotes':

A: You know what? I wish I had two lives — I wouldn't mind living one without you.
B : Man, you're not the only one.
A: Well, we're not making peace, are we?
B : Peace?! Never. Why does everything take so long?

A: Are just gonna keep this up?
C: What is it you are suggesting?
A: I don't know — I've never even seen you smile.
C: [long pause] When you were born I smiled.
A: Well I guess I wasn't paying attention — that slipped by me.
C: When you were born … I … took off my hat and I … beat on the table with it! And I'm almost sure … I was smiling

It goes back a ways (to the early 80s), and was on the heels of the writer winning as Oscar for another film (I thought this was better, and probably his second best film--he has a number of offbeat films (but major releases) to his credit, plays too. It can be a bit sentimental at times, but it's worth watching.

The delivery gives it away . . .

If I don't recognize it after quotes that long, I must not have seen it...

The dialogue sounds familiar... but I could be wrong.

Nope.

I have a feeling that it might be too obscure, but I'll try some other clues: the writer is Steven Teisch who won an Oscar for best screenplay the year before for Breaking Away (gives you an idea of the genre); it was directed by Arthur Penn, who also directed Alice's Restaurant (hint, hint, help in the genre department). As I said, it's a bit offbeat, but it was a major studio release and I'm sure others here must have seen it.

The cast is not obscure, but not very well known--the two best known cast members were the featured stars--Craig Wasson and Jodi Thelen. If this doesn't help, I'll post something new.

OK, the movie is Four Friends; I am attaching a couple of links that talk about it:

If you like coming of age films, this one can be a lot of fun.

I am probably not going to be on this site for a couple of days, so I offer the turn to the next person who has a movie in mind.

From a movie of the genre fitting to this Memorial Day:
It's not the doing shit that gets to you. It's the consequences. Imagine a life without consequences.

No, but that’s not a bad guess.

What... are you serious? I can't even play stupid smartly.

OK, with Memorial Day being the unofficial start to summer:

No & no.

Think military movie; think veterans who don’t make it home (hence Memorial Day), think 90s.

A Bridge Too Far?

Oh no, that movie was made in the 1970's.

Never mind.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Stars my favorite Hollywood hottie Denzel Washington, and a relative newbie Matt Damon.
