Re: Name That Movie!
I wasn’t aware of a remake it is about 40 years old tho
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
Personally I don’t think it could be remade. As is I think the premise is one that wouldn’t go to well with today’s sensibilities. I was considering watching it again to see if it aged as poorly in execution as it does on paper.

Looks like this round could last through the Weekend; it's going to be a Long one.
Re: Name That Movie!
Is that supposed to be a hint?

Re: Name That Movie!
Narrator: That morning, X saw the ugliest person he'd ever come across. She was as pale as something that had crawled out of a rotting log. Her hair was quite gruesome; long and stringy and white, as if she was very old. She was very big - you'd have to dig the whole day to find enough food to feed her.
Rings a bell - was Divine in it?

CP--yes; it doesn't work for you?

New quote
One of the more interesting maguffins in movie historyNarrator: At first, X tried the thing out to cure thongs; it had the right shape and just the right weight. It was also beautifully smooth and ideal for curing snakeskin. And P discovered you could make music on it... And every day they discovered a new use for the thing. It was harder and heavier and smoother than anything they'd ever known. It was the most useful thing the gods had ever given them, a real labour-saving device. But the gods had been careless. They had sent only one. And now, for the first time in their lives, here was a thing that could not be shared because there was only one of it. Suddenly, everybody needed it most of the time. A thing they had never needed before became a necessity. And unfamiliar emotions began to stir: a feeling of wanting to own, of not wanting to share. Other new things came: anger, jealousy, hate and violence.

Re: Name That Movie!
CP, forget my hint, I'm beginning to think this was another movie; one, which to my knowledge, was not remade. And one which I cannot recall the name of, even though I know I saw it.

Don’t worry I don’t feel any less about your mental well-being

Re: Name That Movie!
Oddly enough, just a few days back I stood where X stood when he got rid of it:

It's a big picture, eh?
The movie wasn't remade but there was a II (v. boring)

Re: Name That Movie!
Just for the sake of completeness, I thought the original quote was from an Australian eco-horror film in the 70s called Long Weekend; it was remade around 2008 as Nature's Grave. the movie dealt with a couple in the Bush who disrespected nature one too many times, and had to respond to its wrath (the first quote reminded me of it, although I tried to google it and couldn't get any quotes).
Dales, thanks for getting the name, I couldn't recall it.
