and it isn't a movie about witches or devil worship (which is what I thought it was when I put I originally tuned into it on cable).

I'd say there was some devil worship involved, with all those gangsters and FBI agents kissing Whitey's ass.

LJ for the win, bring on the next clue!

Okay, this is a pretty new flick...

I saw it recently in a movie theater...

(Which if you've read what I've posted about the types of movies I see in theaters, should be a good clue about the type of movie this is...)
Everyone's got their thing! Maybe it's a break-up. A death. An accident. Whatever it is, you used to be one thing. Now, you're something else. We all have our own problems. Our own issues. Our own... demons!

I have a pretty good idea what it is from the trailer I saw in the theater. Knowing what type of movies you see also helps. I'll wait a couple of days.

Mantis in Lace sounds interesting; probably one of those semi soft core 60s flicks (like all the Russ Meyer films). And it stars Patrick's sister--at least that's what it seems.

Maybe a hint will help, it's like what you get from a snakebite, or what the snake stores up for the bites.

eta: and if that's not easy enough, one word, two syllables:

First syllable is the first syllable of the word for meat from a deer.

The second syllable is a two letter 'word" used during meditation or, the answer to the blank ______ de plume, minus the first letter.

Someone has to get it now.

It's made from chickens? :shrug
