Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
If you get an answer, post the link. I'd not believe a word that comes off your keyboard; your loose relationship with truth is well established.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

The moderator doesn't know whether he ever surfed. I doubt many more there will either.
Bah!

What she said was;
So, if in 23 years, he hasn't mentioned ever surfing; it's doubtful he has.
The best of her knowledge is fairly extensive as she's worked with him since 1988.Moderator

Default Re: Does SK surf?
It wasn't the same Stephen King and you're right, he doesn't surf and to the best of my knowledge, never has. I get Google alerts and there are often stories that pop up in the news about other Stephen Kings including the one you're referring to at this link.
So, if in 23 years, he hasn't mentioned ever surfing; it's doubtful he has.
Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
So she would have no idea what he may have done in the 40 years before he met her, nor any time she was not in direct observable view of him.
So you've still got nothing.
So you've still got nothing.

Well, in my country, we talk about what we did in our lives before we met each other. I do that here almost every day. ...but, no prob, I'll ask her to ask him sometime, that answer may take longer.
Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
So assuming it comes straight from the horse's mouth, and he has never been surfing, so what? We're supposed to be falling all over ourselves in awe because you provided evidence to back up your own assertion? Well actually, half your assertion, since you claimed he had never been to Australia and that was conclusively proven false.
So, at best, you will be half right and half out to lunch. Do you think that deserves a cookie?

Cool, that only took five pages... <nom-nom-nom>
Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
Yes, it only took five pages for you to admit that you were wrong in saying he had never been to Australia.
Oh, wait, you haven't ever admitted being wrong about that, have you?
Not surprising.

Here, I'll be gracious, and split the cookie with you since you were wrong too.Scooter wrote:So your answer is no, you have no basis for your claim that Stephen King has never gone surfing and has never been to Australia.

Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
Well, since I never asserted that he had ever been surfing, I had nothing to be wrong about.
And stil not admitting you were wrong about him never going to Australia. Figures.

Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
Your assertion was that I was wrong for making the claim that Stephen King has never gone surfing. Which you've conceded already. ...which is why I have half a cookie!
Well, had one. It's long gone now.
...You gonna eat that?

Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
No, my assertion was that you had not provided evidence of your assertion. Which you still haven't, btw. You got the cookie in advance, remember? Not my problem if you already ate it, you don't get another one.
And you still can't admit you were wrong to claim he never went to Australia. Like i said, it takes character.

Re: Stephen King gets a touch of the Peter Benchley's
You accepted, in fact presumed, the assumption that my evidence would 'come from the horse's mouth' and is valid, in order to give me the advance. Thereby, giving me the credit, which can't be withdrawn, until my source denies it, but not before.
Which is why I offered you half; if you had accepted my gracious sharing of the cookie, that would have been acknowledgement of my concession.
No hurry, she says she may not see Mr. King until the end of the week.

I never assumed he would actually confirm your assertion. So you stil have nothing.
And you still haven't admitted that you were wrong to claim he had never been to Australia.

Well, if you'd accepted your half ... then, if you're not eat that, then ~yoink~ it's mine!

So you admit that King has been to Australia. Thanks.

So much for being gracious to you, you don't even recognize it.
