Seriously, (edit), you know what this meteor could mean to science? If we find it, and it's real, it could mean a lot. It could mean actual advances in the field of science.

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
I love this one...
I was thinking about using a quote from this movie myself...

Re: Name That Movie!
Good grief! Two actual people I've learned to respect (a bit) have seen this? And admit it?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Name That Movie!
So I gather you just won't admit it?

Re: Name That Movie!
No need to. Plan B from Outer Space is all I've seen that appears to be equivalent....

Uh, no. I got the joke that I'd seen it too but wouldn't admit it.... but I don't need to admit it since I've not seen it.

To be fair Meade is in the right ballpark he's just playing the wrong game.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I think this thread just jumped the shark?

Leaving names in this time.Ranger Brad: Oh, say... You don't believe those old legends about (movie title), do you?
Dr. Roger Fleming: Ranger Brad, I'm a scientist, I don't believe in anything.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
Ranger Brad cinches it--not a movie I've seen, but I've seen parts of it on TV and in retrospectives. but it's fun to watch Meade in these threads.
and Jim, I do think I get that joke--the new element, fight?

Re: Name That Movie!
Big RR, the joke that Meade seems to me to not to be getting by making the comparison he made, is that this film is not a schlocky 50s sci-fi flick (Like the shlockiest one of all, that he compared it to)
This movie is a brilliantly crafted dead-on send-up or homage to that genre...
Anyone who has seen a lot of genuine schlocky sci-fi 50s movies (and I doubt there are many I've missed...yeah technically they're awful, but I enjoy them anyway) will appreciate the care, thought, and attention to detail that went in to the crafting of this film...the look, the feel, the dialog, the "acting"...
The guys who made this flick really nailed it...
(I once started a thread on this board raving about this movie...)
If with all these clues by tomorrow nobody else has still gotten it, I'm going to go ahead and give the answer...

Re: Name That Movie!
Well as I said, I haven't seen it, but as I recall the name of the element they were searching for would place it "over your head".
But I guess you are saying that this one is intentionally funny, while some (like Plan 9...) aren't (or maybe don't even realize they are funny)? That could well be, but one of the schlockiest (at least how I view it) which was funny (in a dark way) was Reanimators--there are scenes there that I think have to have been intentionally funny.

It takes talent to act that bad that well.
