A SPC out of Ft. Stewart recently tried to put in a leave packet to go home for his wife's baby shower. His CO denied it with his reason being " men don't go to baby showers", so he had to resubmit.

That should be "An SPC...."

Anyway the CO was right (if this isn't all bogus) men do NOT go to baby showers - it's a girl thing. Just as men don't go to a Hen Party unless they are collecting dollar bills in their underwear (present company excepted of course)

uhh men frequently go to their wives baby showers (if nothing else to haul the gifts) I was at my wifes and just about every guy I know who has had a kid in the past 5 years has gone to theirs.

I was at my sister's...

...an hour before it started, because my F-350 was the only vehicle in the family capable of carrying long serving tables. :)

Postmodern confusion - teach your children well. Stay away! It's a girl thing. Leave 'em alone. Unless you can squeal like a piggy of course.

"Squeal like a piggy?" Are you competing with Dave for misogynist of the year?

FWIW, the last decade has seen the rise of "Jack & Jill" showers, but parties, with lots of food and drink. Women-only is old school.
And even if the shower was old-school, all women, I've not been to one where the men didn't show up near the end to help with the gifts and eat the leftover food.

"but parties" - well, that's exactly what one would expect of such panty-waists.

Ah no Guin - I was just thinking of all those poor men crying for "deliverance"
