An Expensive 20 Bucks...

So yesterday I'm out running some errands with the lad in tow, and we stop off at our neighborhood 7-11 to pick up a couple of Slurpees, (yeah, I'm sorry, it was warm enough here yesterday for Slurpees) and there's a very agitated fellow arguing with one of the English-as-a-second-language check-out clerks...
It seems he had bought a winning scratcher Lotto ticket there that was worth 20$, and the clerk was refusing to redeem it...She was telling him that he would have to come back on Monday and talk to the manager...
Being the buttinsky I am, (and tired of waiting in the ever lengthening line) I said to the guy, "Sir, there's no point in arguing with this lady. You're probably in the right, (he showed me the scratcher, it looked like a 20 dollar winner to me) but you're just going to have to get this sorted out with the manager tomorrow"
He wasn't drunk or stoned, or a homeless person desperate for the money; he was just irate...
He agreed that he shouldn't be holding everybody else up from checking out and seemed to relent and backed off...
Or so it seemed...
We walked across the street to the corner store across from the 7-11 to say hello to the owner, (a very nice hard working Armenian guy who became a citizen a couple of years ago; he's both a client and a friend of mine) and while we were chatting, we looked back across the street and saw that the irate scratcher winner had flagged down a cop car to tell his tale of woe to...(what he thought a cop would be able to about the situation is beyond me)
Unfortunately, the guy was parked in a handicapped spot in front of the store...
So instead of getting his 20 bucks for the scratcher, he got a two hundred dollar ticket for parking in a handicapped zone....
So the lesson here is:
Never seek police assistance for a minor problem while parked in a handicapped zone...
