Asparagus plants are called "spears", not "stalks".
But it's still a pretty good pun.

'Asparagus spear' is a term used to describe the stalk of an asparagus.

But after the gardener stalks his spring prey and eats the spears, the plants produce a sort of nice fern-like big thing that can look nice in the corner.

Forget the asparagus.
The plants in the foreground look like rasberry or blackberry bushes.
I like berries.

For as long as I remember, my grandmother had rasberry plants in the yard of her house in Queens. When grandma moved out I took a few of her rasberry plants that were in the yard. They are still going strong. Gotta keep the legacy going.
