The white SUV sure got the shitty end of the stick. The worst 'skidmark' I ever saw. The driver's lucky the windows were up.

Why do these accidents always happen to Russians or people with GoPro (or both as in most cases)? I will never get a camera in my car or become Russian

The reason is that dashcams have become almost universal due to the amount of graft and fraud in Russia. People will literally jump on the hood of your stopped car, fall to the ground, and claim you hit them. Witnesses seldom come forward and are routinely ignored, and dash cams have been about the only way to navigate the corrupt justice system. So, you see a LOT of Russian dashcam videos because so many people have them.

But why so many horrendous crashes - in some of which the driver filming the thing is obviously speeding, stupid and totally at fault?

There are always horrendous crashes. It's just that the Russians seem to have dash cams to video them. Sometimes the guy with the camera is the naughty one.

I see dash cams advertised on TV daily. There are also apps that make it so you can use your cell phone as a dash cam. All you need is a bracket to point it down the road.
