If you are a collector of old vinyl records, you may find that they get scratchy as they get old and played a lot.

Some records, it turns out, can be renovated and rejuvenated by rubbing them with Vicks Vapo-Rub.

But, it further turns out, this only works for Baroque classical music, like the music of Vivaldi and others of that era.   If you try Vicks Vapo-Rub on other classical recordings, it just ruins them.

So if it ain’t Baroque, don’t Vicks it.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

From David Gerrold (on Facebook):
In the 70s we had a continuing problem on Hollywood Blvd with a bunch of unkempt cultists marching up and down the sidewalks chanting, “Hare Hare, Krishna Mishna.” They were annoying. Some of them shaved their heads, but most had hair down to their knees.
They finally went too far when they decided it was immoral to lock up animals in the zoo. Some of them even thought the animals deserved a hit of LSD. It made some of the ungulates uncontrollable and decidedly nasty.
Or to sum it all up, “Hairy Krishnas and a hoppy gnu’s jeer.”
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

I prefer the term 're-issued'.

I'm not sure whether Eddie's 'Stolen' was a comment on BB's post or a note that he (Eddie) intended to appropriate the jest for his own use.

I have a copy of Pearls Blows Up, the 2011 compendium of 'Pearls Before Swine' strips. Stephan Pastis was on a book tour and signed this to me with a hand drawn picture of Rat on the title page. And on page 118 is this exact joke. (Zeeba says it to Rat.). I am doing a major 'get rid of boxes you haven't opened since two moves ago' clearout and found the book three days ago. I have probably donated or discarded/recycled 2/3 of my books but I'm keeping this one.

PS if Pastis shows up at your local B&N on a book tour, make the effort and go. Well worth it.

I was indicating my intention to take the jest and post it elsewhere.
