  PASSENGERS: But this was supposed to be a flight to Vienna, Austria!
  PILOT: Sorry. More of you voted for it, but we have an electoral navigator.

  PARTY: But we all ordered the quail!
  WAITER: Sorry. We tallied your dinner orders, but we have an electoral kitchen.

  DOCTOR: The operation went well. We were able to remove her gall bladder without complications.
  CONCERNED COUPLE: But our daughter was here to give birth!
  DOCTOR: Sorry. We know what the symptoms were, but this is an electoral hospital.

System works fine when libs get the result they wanted. But let someone else win..... and it's all got to be changed. Dictatorship of the overall majority suddenly becomes sensible.

You have a wonderful electoral system here in the USA. It works best in the world (with the possible exception of the UK where people often step down when they are caught cheating). The entire reason that each president hands over to another in a peaceful transition is that it is NOT a majority of total votes that counts - it is both a balanced (yes), and constitutionally unbalanced safeguard against mobocracy.

If Hillary had managed an actual - let's call it a "win" shall we? - OK, a win, then regardless of the total number of votes cast for or against her, she would be President and I would be decrying the anti-democratic desire and attempts by Trump supporterss to pervert the system.

Protest should be against his actions - not against the method by which the U.S. presidency has withstood all the pitfalls of competing claims of how victory should be assessed. More will be lost by opening that door than can ever be gained.

If you want to argue seriously about the Electoral College, you might want to check out this thread; I would especially appreciate your response to this post.




ETA: the fact that the popular vote has disagreed with the electoral vote only 4 times in 228 years but that 2 of those instances were in the last 16 years just might be something to worry about. (P.S. If you reply to this, please do so in that other thread.)
