I'd like the name of his tailor...

I'll take one in blue, and one in brown...

For anyone else who may be puzzled as to why four pictures of some goober in a pinstripe suit was supposed to be funny, enlarge the 4th picture and check out the stitching...

Now I know why I have never wanted a chalk-stripe suit.

Sometimes I have trouble remembering the name of the next door neighbor or what I had for breakfast. But I remembered a story from the 70s when Prime Minister Jim Callaghan gave Jimmy Carter some suiting with the pinstripe a woven JC (their shared initials). (And there may have been a subtext, which some people commented on, that they also share those initials with a Nazareth-based carpenter from a couple of millennia ago.) I see from the story I have linked that it was May 1977 - more than 40 years. Nothing wrong with my memory, doc.
Carter was wearing a blue suit with the tiny initials "J.C." woven in as pinstripes. The cashmere wool material was an earlier gift from Callaghan, who has the same initials and reportedly has a similar suit. White House press secretary Jody Powell said Carter's suit would be turned over to the General Services Administration when Carter leaves office.
