US Navy officials have said it was "absolutely unacceptable" that one of their pilots used a jet's contrail to draw a penis in the sky.



The phallic outline over Okanogan County in the western US state of Washington provoked much mirth online.

But commanders at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island did not see the funny side and have ordered an inquiry.

A spokesman for the airbase confirmed that the aircraft involved was one of its Boeing EA-18G Growlers.

The pilot who used his plane’s contrail to draw a giant vagina in the sky will be promoted later today, Navy officials said.

Residents of Multnomah County, Oregon, have petitioned the Portland City Council to create a new holiday for U.S. Navy pilot Anthony Cruise after he drew a giant vagina in the sky with his airplane.

Photos sent to the Sacramento Brie by multiple sources show sky drawings of what some people are saying is female genitalia. Some sources have even tweeted pictures of what they saw.

A mother who lives in Portland took pictures of the drawings and said she was ecstatic that she’d have to explain to her young boys what the drawings were.

“Opportunities to talk about female empowerment don’t come along every day,” she said, almost breaking into tears. “For a young boy to see a giant vagina in the sky is … well … I just don’t have the words.”

Navy officials said in a press statement that “the Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we applaud the courage of this young male feminist pilot. The training value of something like this is unbelievable. We’re holding a promotion ceremony later today.”

Federal Aviation Administration officials said the act would have been justifiable even if it posed a safety risk.
